Here's a system that's similar to what I'll be putting in my truck:

Eclipse CD3200 - $279 @ Crutchfield
Sundown SAX-100.2 (true 100Wx2 @ 4 ohms) - $240 @ SSA.com
Diamond Audio Hex S600s - $290 @ woofersetc.com

So, that's just the start...we're up to around $800.

Moving on to the subwoofer:

WLAURENT Darkside toolwell enclosure - (not sure on price, lets say $300 to be on the safe side) - www.darksidesubs.com He's not making enclosures right now, but should be back in the biz in Jan. If not from WLAURENT, then from Darkknight1999.
Stereo Integrity Mag V4 D2 - $250, 500-1000W RMS, (500W recommended lowest power, 1000W RMS max)
JL Audio 500/1v2 - $420 from woofersetc.com

or

Sundown SAE 1000D - $320 @ SSA.com, 1000W @ 1 ohm, 300W @ 4 ohm (the two configurations of the Mag)

$1780 if the enclosure is $300 and you go with JL
$1680 if the enclosure is $300 and you go with Sundown
$1580 if the enclosure is $200 and you go with Sundown

Don't quote me on the enclosure prices. And that doesn't include $100-200 of wiring from www.knukonceptz.com

If I were you, I'd start with the HU, Amp, and components. $800

Save the rest of the $$$$ for another few weeks/months, and then put that into Subwoofer/amp setup. WLAURENT isn't making enclosures for another month or so anyway - so you have some time built in.

Also, check out woofersetc.com's Eclipse HU lineup. There are some other HU's that are just as good, with different faceplates (discontinued models. 8445 is 3 years old, 3000/5000 are 2 years old, 3100/5100 is a year old, 3200/7200 are current)

OK this is crazy...a 1000 watt mono amp in an S? Also you are now making the install harder and take up more space in a small car with two seperate amps plus all the extra wiring, Just get yourself one of the Alpine PDX amps and save yourself all that trouble!

Also, wooferetc.com is not an authorized dealer for JL or Eclipse. So you will have no warranty from the manufacturer on these products.

I am not trying to be mean, I am just looking out for the OP.

I would say steer clear of the Alpine amps. The sound quality is going to be lower than the Sundown and JL.

The Sundown can be configured for 300W, which would be plenty for the Mag in the S. Either way, it's less expensive than the JL (and probably a comparable Alpine given it's power/build quality).

I would say go with something like the Audison LRx 4.5 if you're going to have a single amp. But that will run you quite a bit more $$$$ and space than a pair of amps.

In the limited mounting space of the S, a pair of amps (to get a high quality sound system) might be easier to mount than a single 4 or 5 channel.

Some of us do indeed run dedicated amps. It doesn't really interfere that much when installed properly and definitely adds to the sound quality.

The Alpine PDX line of amps are real nice and sound good. JL is also making a class-d style amp also that is just like the Alpine PDX amps. Neutered Sputniks do you have any solid info as to why to steer clear of the Alpine PDX line. Everything I have seen has been positive.

Because they're Class D.

Every single audio guy I've talked (even those that sell them) has said that the audio does not match that of a pure A/B amp.

Additionally, I'm not a fan of Alpine anything. While I do not say the merchandise sucks. I will say that they misrepresent their products as well as the sound quality.
