see one problem is i dont have the luxury to spend thousands of dollars on a sound system. not yet at least. so as of now i truly believe the system i bought isnt really the greatest but also isnt horrible for the money i paid for. (retailed for $1400 and i got it for a lil over $700 with the discount i got) also im not looking for something amazinggggg. i know youre right about a lot of what you weve discussed for the past few days, but again were on different boats as to what set up is available with our budgets. i will definitely reconsider everything you've said concerning audio parts when im at the same level as you. but the one i might really consider is switching out my deck, but one problem is i want to stay with alpine. if not.... any recommendations? (around the $300 mark)

And my point isn't go out and spend $$$$$ right now. It's about buying the pieces as you can afford them and waiting till you have what you need to do the install.

Right now, my truck has no tunes at all. I stripped the amps/speakers out to install into my S when I bought my S. I could go to Walmart and pick up some crap speakers until I can afford the ones I decide to go with. But instead, I wait. And save that $300 I'd spend on crap speakers/amp and put that towards a much better set of speakers.

And, yes, I drive the truck. It sucks. I'm an audiophile and I miss having a radio - but, I know the wait is totally worth it. Ironically, it makes driving the S that much more luxurious now...lol

 

where is a cheap place to get the pioneer premier?

 

That's exactly how I pieced my system together. Took me a few months to get everything that I really wanted then finding the right installer to trust with my car.

 

I have an Alpine CDA-9886 and I have no issues receiving my FM stations. After reading what you have said it still sounds like an improper install to me. Sliq, why not see if you have a local S2Ki people that can help you take a look.

PS...What in the hell is a Radio Enhancer? I have done audio installs for a long time and I have competed in sound quality competitions so I know what I am talking about. Sounds like they are making excuses!!

It's this thing, that costs $$$ at Best Buy (they're the only ones that carry them), that enhances your radio.

 

yeah thats what i was thinking. could it be a malfunction with the deck? i was just thinking of replacing it with a new x100 because this is ridiculous. im also now looking at pioneer premiers. possibly the 7000 one

 

Get the Premier. You'll like the sound better. Trust me.

Eclipse CD3200 would also be a great buy for $300 or so. Very clean sound.

 

hmm also... NS you know what... list me a good system youd recommend for the S. i mean everything... deck, sub, amp, speakers, wires, enclosure, capacitor, etc plz kthx!

EDIT: and also... if you HAD to get a full system from BEST BUY. what would your set up be?
