alpine wiring and poor fm reception
So I'm trying to decrypt the previous owner's wiring job to hopefully solve my poor fm reception. When I look at the back of the deck I see that the blue wire goes straight to the amp. Reading the manual, the blue/white wire should go straight to amp and I should reconnect the blue wire to the oem blue wire. Would this solve my problem?
I've already pulled the panel in the trunk and both the wires to the antenna were securely connected.

No. Blue or blue/white are either amp turn on or power antenna. I would say the poor reception is due to several factors.
A.) Alpine tuners are poo
B.) s2000 stub antenna is poo
C.) You are in a marginal area for radios (least likely)
Wish I could help a little more!

I hear ya and in WA it can be tough. You can look at the insight antenna as it is taller or look at getting a kenwood, clarion or pioneer to pick up radio. Of course the best option would be sirius or xm
the solid blue wire should go to the blue wire on the adapter
harness, so that the powered antenna gets power.
the blue/white wire should go to the amp. they are probably both
powered at the same time, but it wouldn't surprise me if the amp
turn on wire (blue/white) does not supply enough power for the
power antenna, so if the P.O. reversed them, you should fix it.
