which is the switch-on wire?
I can't get an answer anywhere else so I thought I would try here. I have an '04 Acura TL and am trying to hook up an aftermarket amp while keeping the factory deck. I called the service center to find out which was the power switch-on (remote turn-on) wire and the guy looked it up and called me back. He said it was the green and yellow wire. So , I spliced into it, but I get nothing. I know the amp is working because I tested it out in my other car. Anyone, know anything about this?
Post this on Acura-tl.com or go to a big electronics store, (best buy, circuit city) and look at the 04 harnesses. They say on the back on the plastic bag all the wires. Ill try to look it up for you.
Check to see if you have a blue/white wire.....if you do, thats it.
blue/white stripe or white/blue stripe, Either one......dont remember....if you have both......well, cut the yellow.....
jk...try both.
Let me know if it works.

Wow! I got more input here than I did on acura-tl.com. I posted there about a week ago and nobody responded except one guy who said he couldn't help. Typically, the blue-white or solid blue wire is the remote wire from an aftermarket head unit. A factory radio might be a whole different story. Are you sure it's the blue-white wire? How did you find this out?
For what it's worth, the S2000 switched power lead is also yel/grn (yel with grn stripe.) It feeds the antenna amplifier. I don't know its current rating.
I would think Honda/Acura would use the same colors in all cars. They are not the std ISO colors though.

HAven't tried the blue-white wire yet. Funny about the yellow wire with a green stripe. That is what I tried first. Then I found a green wire with a yellow stripe thinking I just got the wrong wire. But it still didn't work. I would agree that you would think that Honda/Acura would have all of their wires standardized. I am not sure yet if I want to try the blue-white yet. I was thinking that another possibility is that I did not ground it effectively. I originally ground it with some other factory ground wires that were already in place, so I just unscrewed the bolt and added the ground wire to that. But, after finding that it didn't work, I went ahead and used a wire brush drill attachment to expose the metal, but it still didn't work. I will keep trying...
Your best bet is to try and find a stock ground. Also, get a volt meter. Put the + on the power (batt lead) and the - on the spot you are trying to ground to. If it reads 12V you are golden. If not.......sell the car.
