Thanks - yeah I realize a relay will make it work, but it's not worth the bother for me. I almost never used the mute button when it did work. But all the other functions that do matter to me work with a simple hardwire to the Joying, without any relays or interface adapters needed.

You are correct. I looked up what I did on my install, this works:

Connect harness pin 3 to the Joying wire labelled Key 1. THAT'S IT. If you connect the pin 14 mute wire to key 2 without a relay you will get all kinds of crazy behavior where the dash buttons start doing different things like the OP describes. Once I disconnected Pin 14 entirely, mute will not work but the rest of the controls work perfectly. I've had it for 6 months with no issues.

I hear it improves the dashboard control interface. Which may help with an issue I face, which is that sometimes pressing the volume up button will press the MODE button instead. I used to have that binded to NEXT TRACK but it was too annoying since I would go to increase the volume and occasionally it would change the track. Now that button just brings up Android auto, so its not the end of the world when it mispresses.

Did you ever install the firmware update? I read there were some google account login issues with it, which they have supposedly fixed.

See my previous post for fixing the dash buttons triggering the wrong functions issue.

Just looked on the Joying forum - people are still reporting issues with the firmware update breaking the Google login.

I have my dash controls hardwired directly to the unit, no adapter at all. Everything except Mute programmed and works perfectly - Volume Up/down, Mode, CH. No issues.
didnt need to do anything. I just went into the headunits presets, and programmed the dash controls.

What version are you on? I just installed my Joying, and see MCU Version = 2021.06.24

Also if anyone was wondering if the 10.25" will fit in an AP1.

Wondering if anyone has found workarounds for some of my gripes with this unit:

Displays completely wrong time when not connected to the Internet.

No voice dialing.

Incoming calls appear in an almost unreadably small font and also do not show names of caller even if the person is in your phone book.

Mic very hard to hear by person you are calling (I have mine mounted in the upper left corner of the windshield).

I have those same gripes. Joying told me the clock will update itself through the gps antenna too, assuming you can get a solid signal.

I’m curious, what model is your Joying head unit. I’m wonder if the newer head unit (JY-HQS01N4G-1 and JY-HQS01N4G-2) still have those problems?
