In Canada DRL are mandatory, and on the S they do not run off the HIDs, but rather off the high beams at much lower intensity.

DRL are proven to reduce accidents.

Agreed. He was refering to how I run the headlights all the time since we didn't have DRL until this model year ('06). I mentioned the same info regarding the hi-beams earlier in the thread.
