Best possible speaker placement? sure can
If anyone hasn't visited the CDT Audio website recently, they have a very informative FAQ about speaker placement for best possible imaging/phasing. Here's the link.

What they say makes sense. The stock tweeter location high in the door is awful. The drivers side tweeter and woofer have drastically different path lengths to your head, causing phase problems. But the passenger side tweeter and woofer are almost the same distance, shifting the image to the right. In addition the driver's tweeter is extremely off axis, whereas the passenger's side closer to being on axis. This results in different response from the left and right tweeters, very screwy.
I still use them to keep everything hidden and looking stock though. Orthonormal uses the built-in 3 way mode of the active crossover in the Alpine 9833 to time align each driver seperately, rather than just side to side. I think I may end up copying that setup even though it means running wires to the doors.

there is no perfect way to set up speakers, you need to try different places and angles. listen to them and the best result should be your placement.
all those sites are bs, they are giving you basic ideas about what is better than stock location, but trust me, every system is different.
i have tweeters in a pilliar and midbass down in almost stock location and i do very well with that setup. when having the tweet and mid so far from each other, the key is the crossover setting to make them blend well together and sound coherent.
