Building a system for my S2K
Sound good buddy....you wont regret it, and thank me later!
Good call on the focals.
I just ordered an Alphasonik top of the line 10" sub for myself for 179 bucks. I needed to buy a sub that I can upgrade with later down the road...So I got this 800rms monster. Im redoing my trunk soon (John pissed me off cause he has more blue light than I do
...so this is a step forward.
If you had some time to wait, i would give you a review, but since you dont, you can go ahead with Eclipse.
It is a great sub, and youll be more than satisfied. They go online for $249, so dont pay any more than that. (acaraudio.com has them as well)
Also, dont feel to bad, I can assure you, that when the time came, they wouldnt take the amp back. They would be losing HUNDREDS of dollars, and Audison wouldnt accept it back for no reason. Ive been in this game for a long time, and of all places, weisel NYC. So smile, and relax, and wait for you new best friend....the UPS driver.
Good luck buddy!

damn nate you ordered your stuff and getting it installed without telling me lol. My system will look so ghetto compared to yours lol. Hmm i wonder howmuch that box will be for the sub. let me know. I want to be there when you pick her up.
LOL! Man, I was trying to keep it a big secret and surprise you later this week. My birthday present to you is a new system in my car!
Oh yeah, I ordered my front lip, side strakes and rear spoiler too. Hardtopguy gave me a great deal!
As for the sub, I expect to be paying about the same. I may pay slightly more as long as they agree to work with me considering I'm buying the amp and Focals elsewhere.
Brian is thinking that he would rather do a ported enclosure. He is still thinking about making a fiberglass enclosure for the sub. He said that no matter how much the shop charges me for components and labor, he'll have "room to work" with the prices and said that I'll get more than I paid for in the end. So I'll probably be able to get a nice fiberglass enclosure for what it would/will cost for an mdf enclosure.
I'm dropping the car this morning and will go over everything. I'm going to have them put in the Clarion, do all the wiring, and design/install the sub enclosure today. So I probably won't have any stereo to listen to right away, but once the Focals and Alphasonik get here, I'll get the rest of it hooked up and be ready to go!
Just in time for our trip to the beach this weekend!

Okay, I talked to some of the online places that sell the above-mentioned products. Since they are not authorized, many of them have to order the stuff from the manufacturer. Also, many of them don't have all the stuff in stock (they said they did, but when talking to the warehouse, they did not), which means it could take a while for them to get everything (if at all) and have it shipped.
Also, because I'm worried about buying authorized equipment, I wanted to work with one of my local shops to get this stuff for a good price and still have a good quality system.
I had my friend work with me on pricing, but they weren't able to get everything I wanted, so I made a few changes.
1) I decided to go with the Clarion 745. The Alpine is also nice, but for the value, this one works out, and it's AUTHORIZED and warrantied through the stereo shop. I like it, and to me, I can't go wrong with either deck.
2) Rather than getting the Alphasonik, I'm going to try out the Memphis Baby Belle. They will bridge four channels on my mids and highs for 150x2, and I'll have 400w on my sub.
NOTE: I still have the option of doing the JL 500/5 instead of the Memphis Belle, but they said the Memphis is actually a higher-quality amp and will sound better. Any recommendations/suggestions?
3) I'm still going with the Eclipse 10" aluminum sub with custom enclosure in the tool well.
4) I decided to go with the Focal KP's to save a little money.
They said that if I'm not happy with anything, they will change anything I want. But they believe this will be a good setup for what I'm trying to accomplish.
I'm happy with this setup. I know many of you are not big on Memphis, but I have heard them, and they seem highly recommended, and it'll power my whole system and take up less space.
So please don't hate me. I did want to go with the recommended set up, but to me, getting the stuff from an authorized dealer and having it all warrantied was an issue for me that I've battled with for the last several days. I'd rather pay a little more in the pricing of the components and know that it's authorized and warrantied through the shop. So if something goes wrong, they will replace it, no questions asked.
I believe this will be a good setup. I will take photos and let you know how it all sounds. If I'm not happy, you can say, "I told you so!" and kick me in the ass!
The car goes in the shop tomorrow, so I'll either have it back tomorrow night or Wed. They asked me to leave it overnight so they can be sure it's tuned properly and the job is not rushed.

Yea Phil....I was all about the Vrx as well, but its just too damn expensive.
I also agree that this shop pulls rabbits out of hats, along with power numbers.
This is why I tell people to buy online. If they had shops that actually know what they are talking about, honest, pleasant to deal with, and competitive on pricing, then def. go with the local. But cmon....they told him they give him a brand new Audison, install it, and if he doesnt like it, theyll take it back....BS!

i think's phillip is warning against too much power because it's more likely for a newbie to overdrive their speakers.
I'm thinking of the Focal 165CV's if I'm running the Audison SRX3 (65x2, 340x1). They would be more efficient than the KP's, but "Louie" has the Audison SRX3 running the Focal K2P's or KP's and seems to be doing fine. To me, it seems as though it would be better to run the Audison with something more efficient, thus the 165CV's.
I like Louie's setup and am also thinking of something similar, and it's something the local shop can do.
1) Clarion 745
2) Audison SRX3
3) Focal 165CV's or 165KP's
4) Eclipse or Treo 10' sub in fiberglass enclosure
