ok here is a quick rundown on my idea for my future pc install into my s
i have a my02 sebring

something like this for a touchscreen
anyone make a dash mount this would look good in??
i will not cut up dash for this..

i would use a old labtop
the pc would be installed in the spare tire area. or under a seat.
i would rewire the power button up to a button that would be hidden in the glove box. so i could power up and down with ease.

also wires i would run are usb/fire wire/audio input/audio output under center console.
these i think i would install into the cup holder well but would custom make a panal to make it look nice but still use the factory cu holder cover
the labtop would have blue tooth/ wifi/gps
(im thinking about dvd also but i dont know how well it would read while driving)


a few questions would the s2000 battery be able to handle this kinda power req? currently i have a sound sys installed already (4 ch fosgate , polks audio components, 12'' p3 in the tool well) or would i need a larger batt if so i would relocate to the trunk.

originaly i was gonna take apart a few track balls and put it where the caution light button was but then i decided to go touch screen.


i was also thinking about trying to use the labtops monitor but i dont thing it would mount to well lol

hopefully when im all said and done the car will look super clean and noone who doent already know will never guess there was a pc in the car. plus i can use the pc to tune my future ems.. of course the pc would fully intergrate with my sound system.

has anyone ever done this, any tips cool ideas?? or am i the only lunatic that would even try this??

i will not be cutting the dash
i will be modding the screen so i can mout it with the metal bracket thing that sticks out from the dash by the ac controls
or... i will hide a slightly smaller screen behind the radio door peice so i can hide it..
im kind ainto hinding my stuff so it looks stock.
ive srearched s2ki and s2000 abit to see what everyone else has done.
on my old integra i custom made a fiberglass case for the screen that i could unplug with ease and put it into mu glove back or center console.. but it was to labor intensive took me 2 months to get it just right and not look like crap.

ive installed a pc into a car before but i hade ALOT more room and mount options to work with compared to the S.

Look like you better put on your thinking cap and start from scratch You can design something new! I love the idea of hiding the screen behind the radio door. I say do that

 

lol yeah i think im gonna maybe head out to a few junkyards and look for a few radio doors , radios surrounding plastic, etc to play around with and see what would work. does anyone have a pic of and expoled view of al teh parts and such for the radio surround and all things in that general area? i need to make some calculations and know more about the area so i can thing about a few ideas.


i think i might have to gut that lil door of the plastic on the inside so i could get more space. because i notice the inside of the door has a bit of extra plastic to make the door looks thicker. only problem is that door latch thing. i wonder if i could motorize the door and if i could get my friend to build me a metal one to my specs so i have more room.

shit im starting to dread about it already and i havent even really started yet. just in the thinking planning stage.

damn now that i think about it this damn project is gonna take me fking forever. damn me and my fetish of making things look stock...lol

ohh if anyone has and cool ideas about lil gadgets i could try and install it would be a great help. i want this car to be all james bond like lol..

i almost ALMOST regret not buying a 350z so i have more room to work with.
