Default cda9856 amber/green

I used to own this radio this year along with two other alpine unit's. Just received another one and I could swear you could switch between green and amber illumination (the main buttons stayed blue) but I can't figure out how I did it. Any insight? Am I losing my mind? And I just noticed I'm a guest? uh oh! Must be that time......

On my 9885 you hold down the func/setup button to get into the setup. You can then navigate your way to an illumination option. Not sure if it's the same for your 9856, but I imagine it can't be horribly different

unfortunately it is different, I am looking at the old one I used to have, I installed it in my friends S, but I can't figure out how to change it and the manual doesn't tell you anywhere in it. How frustrating. I simply can't remember how I did it.
