^i was assuming you were talking about the whole plastic barrier that the top is surrounded by when it is down. A few people have cut holes in this piece, as it rattles a great deal when any sort of bass comes from the trunk. I personally would not have taken it out because my amp is where my spare tire was, therefore i'd be very weary if there was any water on the top. I guess I got confused , no need to be agitated

even if you got water on your top then put it down you would still be fine. It is the inside of the top that would go down ther and the outside gets folded in. My amp is also right there and i pulled out all that plastic and I have never got anyhting underneath there wet. Trust me, that plastic was not put there to keep underneath dry.
