Thumbs up Do u recommend "aproximity sensor" on alarm ?

Thinking about getting an alarm. You u think I really need the "proximity sensor" feature to protect the convertible car or it a waste of money ?

i have one.

i'm glad i have it.

it took a lot of time to get 'set' right so that it wasn't an annoyance.

i'd buy it again.

mine is a DEI based system.
hope that helps.

They false all the time and need to be readjusted every time the weather changes.

This is true. But like PJ, it's worth the investment. Have your installer show you how to adjust it yourself so you aren't going up there every 3 months.

Like PJ, I have a DEI system (Viper 791) and I just ordered the prox for it.

Yes it can be a annoying. I have adjusted mine 3 times and the installer recommended disconnecting it (not what he said when he sold it to me). Seems to be O.K. now. I will set mine on silent if I am going to be right back (I will get the message through my fob that the sensor has gone off). Cost me $100 and yes I would do it again - especially if u leave the top down.

it took me about 1 month to adjust mine properly... (just tinkering with it everytime i noticed an issue). that was over 2 years ago, and i haven't touched it since. it does NOT need to be adjusted everytime the weather changes....

a GOOD installation shop will roll you out the door the first time with it right, and you MAY need to go back for a tweak or two. while i've installed other alarms, this was my first prox, which is probably why it took me a while to get it right.

now? i can leave the top down w/ a good bit of confidence when i know i'll be in reasonable distance.
