door open wire and accessory wire
shifty...
you just don't get it. i'm going to try and explain it nicely, and w/o any kind of insult or whatall... so, read it, take it for what i'm saying, and don't even think of flaming me over it.
a lot of the people who come to this forum ARE pre-K for electronics. not just first grade... i mean, zilch for experience.
they hear from some buddy or read in a manual to tap into "the wire that gives power when the doors open and which wire is active when u click the headlight switch one time", and they have NO clue why they are doing that, where to find it or anything. or even how to tap, or anything.
you HAVE to start from zero, and work to their experience or go more advanced based on what you can deduce about their experience.
let's look at your response to his question:
you just told this guy to start tearing out misc. panels and go to digging out wires, modules, etc. you told him to 'meter around'...'back in there somewheres.'
this guy's experience, assuming his only knowledge is reflected in his original question, is ZILCH. he's going to randomly digging and screw up a harness, his ECU, pull out a wire, bust a panel, or a dozen other things... and it will be YOUR FAULT. his too, but YOURS because YOU did not give him adequate instruction, and he came HERE for help...
if you want to be helpful, it's your responsibility to make sure you're assistance is positive and not negative in result. so far, you're batting average is like .001 for being helpful.
what you really need to consider is -- know your audience... it's a fundamental principle in Technical Writing (ENG 3002 @ LSU as i recall
). however, i'm guessing you didn't go the collegiate route... but, it's still not a hard concept to conceive. write to their level and understanding.
now, let's look at some of the other responses in this thread:
mine:
in so many words... use the search. and i gave him some keywords to get started with.
modifry:
posts a picture of where to get lights on power. and he tells him to refer to the electrical troubleshooting manual.
Macgyer:
again -- specific instructions.
spider2k
not great, but not bad.... he's not a common poster, but at least he's specific.
but all these comparatively? dude, yours is hurting. misguided intentions for sure.
think about it, please.

Most hondas have lt. green/red or black/white as the doorpin wire, common for all doors and the parkinglight wire is usually red/black. Get a meter and go digging in the drivers kick panel. In the S2000 there is a keyless module in the drivers kick behind the engine start button...you know...back around in there somewheres. You can find both wires there. Meter for both before making any connections.

both of these wires have been documented pretty well on the site, but i'm not in a position where i can look them up for you right now.
look for threads regarding alarm installations and MacGyver's windscreen install. i think he references both of them. also, modifry has a foot well lighting mod he offers, and he references the door open wire in there as well.
best of luck.

Door pins are easy enough to figure out. Remove the single screw that holds the door pins in, pull it out and see what wire is attached.
Pin 'E' shown above gives you want you want for the lights

its negative trigger, black/white @ the keyless module right above your left knee

Hey Hey...who told you to stop sanding your fiberglass?
PJk3...so you're basically saying everyone is an idiot. Im familiar with explaining things as if I were talking to a child, but again, most on here are young adults to grown men/women.

I can tell your a tech by the way you talk to people. You think you know it all and you think people can't learn, or you don't want them to learn, for fear you might not get the job. Just because people don't do it your way or the way you where shown doesn't make them wrong. Case and point my sub box.
I'll let you build a box and cover it with bondo glass and then you can have fun sanding that instead... which as it turns out is just as easy to sand as fiberglass using a 3" DA sander
get a grip on yourself. The box came out perfect. If the mold fibric is pulled properly and if you build a strong wood sub-frame its not going to flex. There are plenty of places where you should use it (or that type of product I like Tigerhair better) but it was not needed on my box so do yourself a favor and STHU because you have no idea what the hell your talking about!
Shifty why not show any of your work??? You must have done something in fiberglass that you can prove you've done yourself. Let's see it! Stop blabing and show us your work you troll.
I still ask, Why do you come here?? Just to cause trouble I guess, because I have yet to see you not cause trouble.

Where in there did I say to take apart anything or meter around with no direction?
Lets save the suspense...I didnt. Again, an EXACT location was given, as well as EXACT wire colors...and I already said those expressions were just that...expressions. All he had to do was verify each with a meter because no one should just hook anything up because someone said so. If the guy needed a picture or anything further than a location and wire colors, my statement still stands...let someone who knows what they are doing do it.
Maybe Im giving people the benefit of the doubt for having common sense. I usually only explain as much that is necessary to get the job done. Its the point where the person who Im helping is still confused when I tell them to take it to a professional.

shifty,
i never said people are idiots or to treat them as idiots. i said assume nothing about their knowlege. in simple terms -- assume they are ignorant. there is a HUGE difference between ignorance and idiocy.
the ignorant can be taught. idiots cannot...
*chuckle*
now, isn't that ironic?

Watch out everyone the auto electronics expert is in the house, we can all leave now. Course he has yet to prove any of his work.

I could pick out several things that could have been done better in your box build/write-up, but Im not going to do that because unlike yourself, Im not a rude person. You brag so much about it, and Id rather let you keep doing things wrong and the hard way.
In the end you got it done...be happy with what you did.
On the other hand, you keep assuming I cant build to your level, which is mediocre at best, and Im nothing more than a 'tech'.
You know what they say about people that assume things.
