door speaker question
Hey-
I know this has been asked a couple billion times.......BUT....
I just bought some speakers for the doors (Blaupunkt ODca660). They require a mounting depth of 2.56" (64mm). I looked at MacGyver's site, and his diagram shows that the depth from the bottom of the back of the front basket plate to be 64mm exactly. He also stated that the window is tilted, so it is not 64mm up top. My question is:
In his diagram, it shows the thickness of the front part of the basket (up at the top) and has a 15mm pointing to it. Does this mean that the basket face is 15mm? Thus giving another 15mm of depth?
There is a part 2:
The speakers CLAIM to be "oversized." They require an opening of 5.63" (143mm) to mount evenly. Will these fit? MacGyver's site does not have the opening dimensions. And if I need Lucid's adapter kit, is that opening 143mm (5.63")? Will my speakers fit into the adapter kit?
Thanks in advanced....sorry about the redundant questions, but the search just pulled up a lot of people referring over to MacGyver's site.
Thanks
John Allaman

So the 64mm depth is not a problem? Thanks....good to know. I have no problem cutting the back out of the old baskets.
Thanks again. I am off to California for a week. Then back to put all the stuff in on the 11th of July...cant think of a funner way to spend my 22nd birthday
.
One of my friends is an electrical engineer, who graduated from Notre Dame. I will try to get him to help me with the install.
Thanks
John
