door speakers in a crx?
Hey i got infinity kappa 6.5 inch seperates i am wondering if ti would be benifical to make an encolsure for the woofer? i am thinking a peice of pvc pipe6.5 inch in diamter and mdf on top and bottom and siliconed to make it sealed? would this make for better sound? or is this a awaste of time. the crx doors are very open and very roadnoisey
It would be a waste of time. You probably wont have much clearance between the magnet and the window/window track for an enclosure of any kind anyways.
You will not get any bass worthwhile from a 6.5 in a enclosure in the door anyway.
Just try and make sure you have a good baffle to separate the waves coming off of the back of the speaker cone from mixing with the waves coming off of the front of the speaker cone. If you don't, certain frequencies will cancel each other out.
Dynomat extreme works very well. Just cut a round hole in it just big enough for the rubber/foam surround, then place it over/around the speaker.
If you can construct something to keep the water off of the backside of the speaker you will get more life out of it as well.
