I've had the unit installed with an Eclipse 8445 for about 6 months. Some quick notes:

The good:

Sounds great
Able to advance/rewind songs from head unit
Keeps iPod charged
Uses dock connection [I have a couple ipods that were given to me due to issues with headphone jack! Think about this before a diy battery upgrade.]

The Bad:
Satellite Radio bogarts display. No iPod readout. Songs will display if no sat radio.
DCI only jumps playlists [I'd rather have it advance songs.] Some day I'll ask for some Modifry custom programming.


If I had to rate it for the 8445, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Being able to "recycle" iPods has made it worth the money spent for me.
