Do any of you gents know if Elemental offers a grill cover for the e8a.44?

I was thinking that perhaps the black-oxide audiobahn grill covers would look nice - not a whole lot of options for a sub with this type of cone excursion.

i'm pretty sure they don't offer or suggest one. what about the JL ones? will they fit? the excursion is similiar on the W7 (i think...). I've been thinking about the grill issue myself, i want some protection but i don't want to cover it up too much!

no grill that i know of... anyone else?

this question had been quietly sitting in the back of my mind, but had been put into the 'i'll deal w/ that later' catagory... i guess now is almost later. the 8" black steel audiobahn grill does look nice, and it apppears that the audiobahn logo in the center could be carefully cut out, while still maintaining a nice appearance... but unlike the 12" and 15", the 8" doesn't have a 'deep grille' option. i also have not been able to find a measurement for the 8" grill and what excursion it can handle.

just for comparison's sake, looking at the e8A's frontal diameter and the frontal diameter of the audiobahn high excursion (AW800Q) 8" - they both are 8.5". the AW800Q is spec'ed for a Xmax of 12mm. so, it is possible the grill might work.

*shrug*
what other grill options are out there?

also, William - when should i order my box so that you can get the fitment done?

man these things take a small box! i didn't realize how small a .35 cu.ft box actually is! i mapped out my box and have about .38 of volume (before subtracting the driver). if this thing sounds half way decent in such a small box i will be very happy!

as you can see i'm starting to get excited!

PJK3 - you can order whenever you like

I will not be shipping any for e8a's until SC's gets here and I get the fitment right.

I can check out a few of the grill fitments while I have SC's enclosure (of course only if he does not mind me holding his baby for a few extra days). I am pretty sure the Rockford HX2 grill will not work, but can try the kicker comp-v grill

and a few others - take some pictures and let you decide

No problem William. Take all the time you need to test.

i'll order mine as soon as i get the wife's blessing to do so... (lol.) seriously though, payday is next Friday, and i'll probably order around then... honestly, i wouldn't want you to ship it until you had a chance to get the fitment setup... it benefits us both to get it done right... you're customer service is somewhat legendary, and this proves it yet again...
so, i'll put that it's for an e8A in the comments... will you need anything else? perhaps a PM when i order?

the kicker CompVR is also a good looking grill as well... given that the audiobahn logo could be cut out of the grill, that grill didn't have a bad look to it either. my only concern is that it appears the the audiobahn grill actually bowls down towards the center of the grill... w/ the e8a's flat cone, i can't help but wonder if that won't be a problem... *shrug* i dunno.
still, chances are i'll be pretty happy w/ just about any grill, as long as it isn't the traditional old waffle style...
