Been planning my setup and can't find a good box to fit in the trunk correctly for a W6. I've seen some on ebay and none that looks like it would hit correctly with the W6. Anyone with suggestions or experience gladly appreciated.

 

Basically, you're not going to find any enclosures large enough for the W6. The largest enclosure I've found was the trunk well enclosure by Darkside Subs with 1cu ft. The W6 needs 1.25cu ft (approx). There's also a mounting depth issue with the W6 (8" mounting depth).

I recommend going with a Stereo Integrity Mag v4 12" mounted in a Darkside Subs trunk well enclosure. The Mag has better sound qualities (more linear travel - <1% distortion at 22mm excursion). It requires 1cu ft of enclosure volume, handles 500-1000W, and has a 5.5" mounting depth. It ships for $250.

Bottom line: for half the price you can run twice the power and have better sounding bass. You'll get just as much (if not more) bass without the boominess that comes from distortion at high excursion.

I'm running a single Mag in my S with 500W to it and it's the best sounding sub I've ever heard (and I used to love ID for their SQ). In fact, I like it so much that I have a pair of Mags in my truck running approx 1kW to each...

 

It's just I already have the jl w6 already and it's just been sitting around. $400 garage ornament.

 

Craigslist or Ebay?

You'll have to spend another $400 on a custom enclosure to fit it...

 

i could build a box for it using the spare tire well and some space above to acihieve the 12.5 needed...
