^^that's about as ghetto-rigged as I've ever seen in car audio. IF you have to do that to fix the whine - send the HU back b/c it's defective.

But, we won't be able to tell for sure until you've done a bit of troubleshooting - which means installing your other amp and seeing if it is whiny. If it is, then you know your original amp is good. If it's not, then your original amp is bad.

im actually going to hook up my RCA's to my GF's car which has a pioneer unit on it. i really do think its the head unit. ive herd nothing but problems about this thing having grounding problems!! i know for a fact my wiring job was good. i used to have subs running off this head unit and sometimes i could hear a slight whine...but it was all lows, so the high whine didnt come through. humm

ill see what happens when i hook up to the GF's unit. i can almost tel lits going to be crystal clear....meaning the ground on the RCA's from the HU are shot.

Again, if you must do that caraudio.com hackjob, just take the HU back and get a new one - yours is defective. There's no need to use a hackjob to rig your HU to work right.

the problem was fixed by wrapping wire around the outside of the RCA at the head unit. and grounding it to the head unit. not ghetto. things out of warranty. its a smart fix! stupid PICO fuse!

You don't find that ghetto? I'm sorry, I do. Anything out of the ordinary that you have to do is going to rank up there as "ghetto."

Whatever lets you sleep at night...

sounds like either a bad channel of the amplifier.. of maybe your radio isn't grounded properly... also try changed the rca cables... could all be possible problems...if none of those problems fix it... try changing the amp

Yup, why not. Let's all go ghetto-rig our systems (as opposed to actually fixing the problem...)

Actually, if you'd read the thread, the OP already did this and it "fixed" his problem. I use the "" because the problem is really still there, just band-aided...
