I saw the topic on S2000.org but has anyone taken power from the domelight instead of going all the way to the fuse box? I have seen some installations on other vehicles that have done this and was wondering if it was possible for our cars?

the domelight is not a safe place to wire up a radar detector. The wire is a very thin gauge.

i have wired mine down to my accessory wire. you can try it if you want, but my guess would be you might blow fuses later or melt the wire.
