Default Hardwired V1, Remote display flickers

Hi guys!

Well before I get into this, I first must mention that I don't really understand the technical detail about electronics, but am good at following instructions. So I finally decided to try and hard wire my Valentine 1. I pretty much followed the informative instructions from the Texas S2000 website. I used the V1 supplied wire to hard wire the unit. I replaced the male plug with a female plug, and I also replaced the grounding clip with a larger clip.

With just the V1 hooked up, the display is normal. But when I hook up the remote display, the led brightness fluctuates (on the remote display). As far as I can tell, the brightness fluctuates randomly, independent of rpm, ac, fan, or radio operation. I've double checked the connections, and everything appears tightly connected in the right places.

Does anyone have any insight into what I might have done incorrectly, or what I can do to correct this?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Elvin

Elvin, I think you need to contact the V1 people. This does not seem right. If your V1 is working properly, I don't see how this can be a result of your install. You may have a bad remote display.

hmmmm....

i have my remote display where my dash display is, and it does dim when it gets dark (just like the stock gauge does when you turn your headlights on), and it get brighter when the cockpit gets light(sunlight). im pretty sure valentine designed it this way, but mine does not "flicker" at all. i guess all i could suggest is check all your connections, and make sure its getting enough power.

if all else fails, try calling up valentine and see what they say
