Has this been asked? Is there ANY HU that is compatible with Honda's dash controls?

Default Has this been asked? Is there ANY HU that is compatible with Honda's dash controls?

I am still looking for a HU to put in my '04 S2000. But I hate the idea of losing my dash controls. Now I know I can use DJ Qube's or Lucid's. But my car is on a lease and I don't want to make any modifications that can't be quickly taken out.

So is there a path of least resistance here?

Are there any HU's out there that can play MP3's, do Satellite and still allow me to retain the stock controls?

I'd go Alpine with Lucid, but you've got many choices. Just keep your origional HU and wiring harness. If you can put it in > you can take it out.

Whoa, that was kinda erotic

short answer... no.

long answer...
w/o using Lucid's solution or the PAC solution (not preferred), you cannot gain use of the dash controls, unless you seek out some rather hard to find European head units (HU).
BUT, Lucid's design doesn't require any modification to your car... you put it inline w/ the aftermarket HU's wiring, plug into the car's harness and you're good to go.
like Willie mentioned - you can just pull your OEM HU, insert the aftermarket one w/ the DCI wired in, then when finished, pull the aftermarket HU, and plug the OEM back in...

Thanks as usual for the feedback guys.

It sounds as though the Lucid is the best way to go. Too bad Honda doesn't provide an upgraded stereo for the S2000.

Thanks again for the info.

The stock radio is made by Clarion in the '04 models (I am not sure of previous models) However I don't know of any Clarion HU's that would be a drop in replacement and still be able to use dash controls without DCI unit.

Out of business. Go with the Modifry DCI. There are good reasons why it's constantly recommended in recent threads (note the dates on this thread).
