As others have pointed out, a straight headunit swap in this car is
trivially easy. As for Circuit City, for anyone who has worked there,
is there any incentive for an employee to sell $180 installs? How
are the installers paid? Do they get paid to "up sell" installation?

the only 'amp' in the s2000 is for the freaking antenna. so you must be sure to connect the power antenna wire otherwise your FM reception will suck.

Information:

No dash kit. The S2000 is ISO mount.
the wire harness is MET 801721.
No antenna adaptor.

Against my better judgement I'm allowing the kid to do it. I have the department manager on my side, as he confirmed no rewriring is needed on my car.

This kid has the biggest attitude too. I want to punch him.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm sitting in a barnes n' noble waiting for the install to be finished. I'm half expecting a call from this kid saying something about rewiring my entire car.

Dont worry, hes just some hater who cant afford your car. Pay careful attention to the conditions of your seats to make sure he didnt jack them up...they are fairly spendy.

Install is done and works well. The kid apologized and said the last s2000 had rear speakers and an amp, so I guess he assumed all of them were like that. Whatever.

I bought the pioneer ipod connector for my iphone. It does play music from the phone but does NOT charge the phone, nor does it display the song title, etc. It just displays "Error" on the head unit. Word of warning for anyone else purchasing an iphone expecting it to work with an ipod connector..

I'm a manager at Best Buy and not to talk down on competition but I wouldn't let someone like that touch my car even if I told him he was wrong. I let my guys in my install bay install my deck and wasn't pleased. Next time I get anything installed, I will be going outside of retail unless they are certified.

There is no incentive for them to make $180. Circuit City nor Best Buy makes commission. Its all easy labor, just time consuming. The only reason I my install bay do it was because if something went wrong I could legally hold them responsible. The car was only a month old at the time.

Headunit install in an S2000 is probably as easy as it will ever get.

But I just got a pioneer 7900bt and the smart cable would NOT work. They don't fit newer model pioneer models yet.
