Default Help a nub with GPS

I am currently considering buying a GPS unit for some road trips and other travel, but unfortunately I don't know much about them, and really don't have a whole lot of time to get myself to the status of "expert gps person". SO, I figured I would throw it out to you guys and see what was suggested.

My ideal unit:
- portable, I would like to use it in places besides the car.
- bluetooth. I saw one that would act as a caller ID and I think even maybe speakerphone for your bluetooth phone. My inner geek got giddy.
- Mountable in the S without having to use the suction cup on the window, and preferably without having to drill into the console.
- I would like to be able to put custom destinations in it, or even custom trips (i.e.: being able to program in a certain drive, and be able to say, take me to that route or road.)
- would like it to be user friendly

I would like to not spend more than 500, but am open to suggestions.

I have a Magellan 700. Nice unit. Many places are closing them out under $500 right now. No bluetooth though
