Connecting the two black wires should be fine.
If you didn't disconnect your battery before doing the wiring, my guess would be
you blew a fuse when wiring. There are two fuses for the headunit - #9 and #22
in the under-dash fuse box

Oh, and BTW, you need the power antenna wire hooked up as the S2000 has an amplified antenna.
