Default Higher end OEM Alarm beep

Anyone know exactly what makes a BMW, Mercedes, or even an Acura make that little beep when you arm the system?

I am trying to figure out if it is just a special siren, or a separate one... or what. I would like to put that on my car instead of the typical alarm chirp. Anyone have any ideas?

Bump for this one, i been looking for the siren hack and i found nothing!

i was so thrilled to see the siren switch and it turns out it's more silent than siren

second request for the mightly EJ guru(s): is there a way to add a movement sensor to the oe alarm?

Do you have an alarm now? If so, alarms typically just play the first bit of the siren to chirp, so getting a siren from an old Audi, BMW, etc, at a junk yard would be simple enough - just wire it in place of your current siren. Sirens come with their own tones and logic, so if you find one you like you should be able to just wire it up.

I also really liked the Alpine sirens - you can still find them on eBay.

the keyless entry module has a horn output wire. its under the dash above the left knee.

you can cut that and install your own piezo from radio shack. it wont affect your regular horn usage at the wheel, but it will affect the panic button, if that matters to you.

i was jsut sick of hearing the horns obnoxious honk i removed the horn wire all together. i always meant to install the piezo, but never got around to it.

now that i got an aftermarket alarm installed, i wont bother.

Well, fyi, you can program the oem keyless not to honk when you lock/unlock the car - no wire cutting required.

Yes you can (don't remember how) but having an audio reminder is nice. When I park at work, unless I am specifically looking at the lights, I get no feedback as I cannot hear the locks click due to expressway noise. A shorter and less obnoxious chirp would be nice rather than the AP2 horn honk (the sound of which, when used as a horn, I do appreciate.)
