Default HU installed now dash problems?

I just bought a new Alpine HU at cartoys and had it installed there. Now the "malfunction indicator" lamp is on and the clock on the tach keeps resetting to 1:00 after the car sits for a few minutes. What could have caused this?

I thought maybe the malfunction lamp would go away after 50 miles once the odb2 codes reset but it is still on.

I would take the car back to cartoys and have them check the install to make sure they did not screw something up.

I am wondering if they clipped a wire, or used the wrong wire for something.

I would say 2 HU's installed, and the issue is the same, it is probably the install.

I got rid of the malfunction indicator light, but the clock is still resetting everytime the car is turned off for a few minutes.

Anybody know what to look at for the clock?
