If replace new Head unit can we still use the side control?

I think the big question here, that isn't clear in the FAQ is.. Is there a harness (pre-made or hand made) that does not have the IR eye?

sorta.

Lucid/Modifry offers a setup that works w/ a few specific Sony head units, that is a wired version.

i've seen mention of an Alpine converter that matches up w/ the dash controls, but it can only be used on certain UK Alpine head units.

other than that -- i think they are all IR related.
