Default Install an Amp

I've been trying to run an amp wire thru the firewall but i can't find the access on an '03.

I'm following the instructions listed in the library on how to install an amp. But I can't quite figure out how they are going thru the firewall.

Any ideas?

Pics would be real dang helpful!!!

There's an oval shaped grommet behind the battery that covers a hole in the firewall. Use an exacto knife to cut a slit near the edge of the grommet and slip your amp lead through. You might have to pull the grommet partway out to get it through.

Yep move the battery aside or remove and you'll see the gromment. Lube with your Shinitsu grease if you slit. So WILL say undo all the wires and go that way but it takes forever. Pinch an edge with pliers they slit push it in and if you want sealed add one of those rubberizing coats.

Why would you want to take the grommet out from the firewall?

just to make sure there are no differences between RHD and LHD cars,
the grommet we use here in the US is the lower one, behind the battery
which is on the passenger side of the car (your driver side). after
unwrapping the electrical tape around the grommet, it was not too hard to
slide a well-lubed 4-gauge power wire through the end of the grommet
with the other wires without cutting or removing the grommet. hardest
part is re-wrapping with electrical tape.

how bout just wiring through behind the front quater panel, and then behind the kick panel... without going through the firewall? i tested it out with the 8GA power cable, and it works, but i can see the cable through the gaps when the door is closed...

a friend of mine suggested that idea if i couldnt get through the firewall, he did that for one of his cars and didnt have any problems with it... do u guys think it'll be safe?
