installing pager antenna in wlaurent's alarm system, possibly under rollhoop?
I'm installing wlaurent's alarm system and the location he recommended I install the antenna is under the rollhoop cover on the driver's side. I tried removing it by unscrewing everything, but it just wouldn't come off. I just did a search and found some threads wherein jerrypeterson and others said they really can't come apart without "breaking" and reglueing them, which kinda sucks. the rollhoop cover though does seem like the ideal location to maximize antenna reception, so I can understand william recommending doing the install there.
so, has anybody installed the pager antenna in a different location? I'm thinking under the center console, but of course I'd want to maximize my antenna range.
or, if anybody has found a less traumatic way to remove the rollhoop covers than is mentioned in the following threads, I'd be good with installing the antenna under the hoop. but the whole re-glueing and total dismantling of the car part I can do without.

thx for any input and suggestions.

Just to clarify, this is part of a PM that I sent to tritium_pie:
The roll hoop covers are welded together. There is a metal wire that runs through the seam between the two halves, and the wire is heated to weld the plastic together. They do not come apart, unless you break them.
If you want to put the remote antenna under the roll hoop cover, you need to remove the entire roll hoop. First you need to remove the seat, the panels behind and to the side of the seat, the rear tray and trim, the center console and rear console, and the seat belt attachments. The roll hoops are the last piece to come out, in that series.

If you remove your OEM antenna when you park, the alarm paging function won't work. That's when you would use the remote antenna.
