Installing Sirius FM Modulator
I have a 05 AP2 and I'm trying to installing an FM Direct modulator because the FM Transmitter that comes with the Sirius car kit sucks(lots of static). I have the stock radio and I have to remove the HU to get to the antenna. Quite a few posts back there was mention that you have to remove the center console first before removing the HU brackets. I this really necessary? I just want to the remove the stereo cover and the brackets.
I just installed mine last night. just remove the shift knob, console top, radio door, 4 screws to radio, the modulator will fit in the back left corner of the dash perfectly. It took me about 20 minutes.
How did you get the FM out cable back to the car kit?
My understanding is that you take the car antenna and plug it into the modulator and then the antenna plug from the modulator into the HU...but the modulator cable has to go back to the car kit into the FM OUT jack. How did you feed this through so it doesn't show? I have the stiletto 100 with the car kit.
I routed the FM cable (that is about 20 ft long
) out the back of the dash where the radio goes and then routed under the dash to the firewall and then under the carpet to my stiletto 100 with the car kit that is mounted to the driver seat rail.
Where did you mount your car kit?
