I still say the better way to go is with the 10" sub between the passenger footwell and the fire wall. It loses about 1" of legroom (you can put an 8" in there and gain a coouple of inches of legroom), but at least it's a 10" sub. Even the best 6" is still only 6". w/ 10" there's not really a need for a box. I think the install is about $250 at the stereo shop I've been going to for years. (I'm not exactly sure, because I had a number of things done at the same time. Of course the price is less if you buy the sub and the amp from them etc.)

My Configuration:
10" Alumipro sub in passenger footwell
Dynaudio system 260 in the existing speaker wells and custom tweeter pods on the doors
Helix 4 chn. 400 watt amp (1 chn for each set of Dyns and 2 for the sub)
Eclipse 3431 head unit

installed by this guy www.gregsound.com

and it's hella loud and really clean

How can you get clean tight bass from a 10" woofer without an enclosure?

Dinnyin -- sounds like an amazing setup. You really did it right. A couple of questions--I'm trying to get a better picture of exactly where it's installed. Would the passengers feet rest in front of it, or is it mounted higher than that? Also, I don't get what you mean that you lose about 1" of legroom with the 10" sub, but could gain a couple of inches by using an 8"?

I'm the guy that Andy mentioned. Audio Dimensions does great work. They originally installed a JL 8" sub. With the box I lost about 4" of leg room which was unacceptable. They then put in a JL 6" sub which fit mostly in the corner abutted to the A/C venting. There was almost loss of space. The 6" doesn't give as much bass as the 8", but it sounds quite good.
