Default Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X995

I've been shopping around for a new HU for my '08 S2000 to be purchased soon, and this HU seems to have it all - HD radio, BT, Pandora, time alignment, EQ, etc., all built in. Looks great on paper, and I was impressed when I demo'd one today.

Do any of y'all have any experience w/ this model? It would be great to see a pic of one in an S2000!

I have the KDC-X994 (the preceding model which did not offer iPhone Pandora support). I don't mind the lack of Pandora support through iPhones since I am currently using an Android phone (HTC G2) and just stream the audio through BT AD2P. This means I get to skip forward on tracks and switch stations, but the HU display does not show the Pandora station information. Overall sound quality as well as streamed sound quality are both excellent, and the BT telephone support works perfectly. As reported by many Kenwood HU owners, the screen does wash out badly in direct sunlight. Aside from that, I am very happy with the head unit.

Display color matching comes very close to the factory amber color

HU installed

Pretty much looks like this. I just didn't care about the bt. really easy to use and all the rear aux inputs are great.

Mine is on its way. If you run into any problems, let me know.

Since this HU doesnt have front USB/aux, how did one manage to make use of this?

I am glad the HU lights goes well with the stock interior. I might mess around with different colors to see how I like it. Maybe, probably not.

I've been waiting for someone to try out the new headunit.

I would run a USB/Aux cable from the back of the headunit into my glovebox or out the passenger side dash.

Front-only USB is what ruled out Pioneer's entire line-up for me - having the cord dangling out the front doesn't look very good, and it would be a PITA to unplug every time you close the radio door. Alpine, though my favorite HU brand in the past, annoys me my making you buy/install a separate module for every little thing (imprint, BT, HD, sat., etc.). Looks like it's going to come down to a choice between this and the Sony DSX-S300BTX

I ran an aux cable to the glovebox under the center console and then the usb to the side mesh pocket where I have a 16 gig thumb dive. I bought it for the main reason on no front inputs. The look like crap imo.

To people who have this unit,

Does steaming music over bluetooth work for this HU?

If so, what phone are you using to stream the music over bluetooth?
