Keyless Start Button Idea

I realized, I could use my car's aftermarket alarm system as the authorization device. If the alarm is armed or was armed (when power was cut... in case someone is trying to steal it by disabling the alarm or removing the battery) then the start button does nothing. If the alarm is not armed, then the start button works as above.
I can just make the immobilizer pass through my circuit and glue the immobilizer transponder to the immobilizer device (after I move it somewhere hidden in the dash).
Of course there is still the steering wheel lock, which I would remove.
I realize that this is not the most secure system, but it would pretty much do what I intended it to do. Allow me to start the car with just a button push.
I think I would add a led to the start button (green) to indicate that the car is in the IGNITION or ACC state but not started yet, it would change to red while the car is running.
Thoughts anyone?
I've emailed an infinit dealership to ask about getting keyless ignition parts from the g35, just to see how much that system would cost. If it's reasonable, I would consider researching that avenue.
Would anyone else be interested in doing this system too if I get it worked out?

Bump,
Is there anything aftermarket available where we could just push the start button to turn the car on and off? Not that its hard to put the key in and turn it two clicks, but I think this would be pretty cool.
Just looking for an update...

Interesting idea. It's completely a novelty modification but it would be a fun project if you're into instrumentation and controls.
Was the project ever actually pursued? Was there a preliminary flowchart drawn up for the system?
And as for the wheel lock, would some kind of electric atuator/solenoid work? I'm not sure about the clearance around the actual lock/unlock mechanism but it seems like a viable solution.
It actually sounds pretty simple and some basic C programming and experience with microcontrollers would take care of most everything.
