Kick panel speaker install pictures?
s2000 being a manual shift sports car, and the foot area small as it is, reducing it more with kick mounted speakers would not be recommended.
I agree with you that kicks sound amazing, and have had several cars/trucks with them in there my self, and for a true sound quality setup that is all i would do,
for cost and safety them going into a s2000 is not practical, be the first, post you pics maybe you found the best new mod......

No pictures cause it's not worth the time and effort to do it.

Your argument hinges on all 4" being inefficient. That's not entirely true. Here is a 4" speaker that I got tested all the way to 105db with test tones in an s2k:
Faital Pro 4FE30
A lot of the speaker's output comes from motor strenght and motor linearity, BL and BL over X where X is excursion. This one in particular has a nasty little neo motor. Yes it will have enough output to hang with most 7" midbass drivers.
There are square cutouts in the kick area you can use and mount these almost flush Vactor.

You are correct, but the argument is more on the fact that the 4" speaker that will FIT in this location will basically suck. So find a shallow, 4" speaker that will perform on the same level that a high quality 6" - 6.5" component set will. AND another argument is that the direction of the speaker will be facing right into your feet and the rest of the foot well, so you will get little to no sound out of this speaker unless you change the fade and balance around to compensate for this, then you are just going to limit the performance to a good component set to make up for a crappy 4" speaker.
This is the most shallow 4" that I could find as well. It also measures at less than 4" wide overall. I don't think the depth is that much of an issue with the 4" in this car as long as it's a neo magnet. If you take out that square sound blocking sponge in the kicks you'll see that there is a quite a bit of depth. A large round ferrite magnet may not fit in there but most if not all neos will. The overall depth on the Faital is less than 2 inches, I used deeper tweeters before. Aiming is also not that crucial as a 4" driver is omnidirectional all the way up to where most tweeters can reach down to.
I agree that your feet will block a lot of the sound out. There will be large frequency response deviations but this is not an S2000 problem per se. It's a general drawback to kick speakers.

Why would you use anything but a car audio? I've had people come to me wanting to put home audio, marine audio (pointless in all measures), headphone inputs and a countless other concepts of audio when car audio speakers work best in vehicles.
2.Some of the best car audio speakers are rebadged home audio speakers.
3.Car audio is generally behind the curve and offers very poor performance/dollar ratio.
You are paying extra for some colored baskets, rubber magnet covers and well the brand.
