The ZR3 proved to be quite adept at confusing lasers, achieving a remarkable 99 percent efficiency rating against the five guns. In fact, had it not missed our 450-foot threshold by a scant two feet against the LTI Ultralyte LR gun, it would have scored a perfect 100 percent, the best jamming ability we've ever witnessed. If you want better protection against lasers, most likely you'll have to buy a judge.

Try buying a judge and it will cost a lot more than the escort ZR3. Still keeping the v1 but might buy the 8500 just to have the intgrated system.

BTW only approved installers can get you one. You can't order this online. ZR3 was $499. Bell in same price range $400-500 not installed. Bell needs to be hooked up to high end Bel Detector to give warnings and feed back where the ZR3 operates on its own without an Escort detector but works real slick with a Escort detector.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but where are you getting this info? From your statement it sounds like you are quoting something....

I've had the ZR3 (Laser Diffuser) / SR7 Radar/Laser Detector Combo installed for few months.

* Errr, Nickfromny you absolutely can buy this on line from an authorized seller for a lot less than $1,500 retail.
http://ppraudio.com/store/agora.cgi?...SCORT-SPECIALS.

* to install the combo it cost me $250 making total cost ~$1k (I figure if it saves me 3 tickets & insurance hikes I'll break even. 1 down 2 to go)

* complete stealth mount so I never have to worry about what's hanging off the windshield and wires stretching across the cockpit like a clothes line.

Just to clarify, from what I've read active jammers are illegal but passive diffusers are legal. Diffusers redirect the laser into the atmosphere not back at the gun.

Here's a link to my earlier post with pics ...

As you probably guess, I love this combo.

Laser jammers are legal in most states. Not in mine.

The good units are: Lidatek, Blinder, and the Escort ZR3.

The coolest feature I found on the Lidatek, it fires for 5 seconds after laser is detected, then shuts itself off, allowing the cop to read your speed. The Blinder needs to be shut off. I dunno about the ZR3.

You will need a kill switch for these. If the cop suspects something, you want to be sure it does not work if he pulls you over and tests the car out with the gun point blank.

I'm still looking for someone with access to one of these puppies 'cause I can't buy them here.

Yes! Lidatek rings a bell - I think that is the one that actually works.

www.radartest.com is very suspicious, I believe it is not an objective test.

ZR3 with an Escort 8500 is the way to go. Installation is not difficult. Has a remote mute button that doubles as Laser Shift off, when you are ready. Both will set you back $650-$850 depending on where you buy.

ZR3 is here. Having it installed Wed. Will not get 8500 yet. Will continue using the V1. Means pushing two buttons in two places when laser get fired at me but a ticket for minor issue is better than one for going real fast. Still might get 8500 once I see one in action. Last escort product I owned was over 10yrs ago.
