Just wondering what the general consesus was on these two amp/speaker choices. The local stereo shop is giving me fairly similar pricing on both amps and both speakers.

ARC audio 4150 CXLR or Alpine PDX-4.150 The installer insists that he can fit either one over the gas tank, so I guess for once in my life, size doesnt matter. The actual price is within $75 of each other. It looks like the Alpine is more powerful, but the ARC is clearer. Fellas?

Polk SR6500 or Focal K2p

I am just interested in what you guys think would be the better combination.

I am using a Nakamichi CD400 and have Infinity Kappa 50.7cs in Spods. Planning on dynamatting both layers of the doors and doing the floorboards too. Not planning on doing any subwoofers, and I want to amp all 4 speakers.

Thanks.

Alpine PDX and Focal. Youll be happier than a pig in sh!t.

Arc is nice, but their customer service department is run by hitler, so I vowed never to use them again. Their products however, arent bad. The s2k needs power more than clarity.

I have the Alpine and the SR 6500's & it sounds awesome. The reason I went with the SR's is that I don't like the sound of aluminum tweeters, they seem a bit too harsh for me. Either way, I think you'll be very happy.

Dave, you are loosing your touch, you didnt mention to me that the speakers were a waste of money and to get Infinity perfects!

thanks for the advice guys, as always. Looks like it is the alpine for me.

Hey, I gotta work with what I have. I personally, like perfects a bit more, but I like HIGH highs. You cant go wrong with Focals though.

Dave's been great assisting me. I had my mind set on Focal K2P UV's, and was filling in the amp, etc. I eventually ended up with a PDX 2.150. I spent the premium on the amp after seeing Rick's:

The boxes are sitting in my family room, so I can't give you my opinion. I've got to wait until after the 15th for installation!

* Dave made a good point of suggesting I go to a 4 or 5 channel amp in case I'd like to expand down the road to a sub or rear speakers. I went with the two channel as I won't be adding these components. That's not to say they wouldn't improve matters, I'm just at my budget' s end!

Let us know how it turns out.

I really hadnt considered the PDX until I saw Rick's install too, and talked to him about it. He seems pretty impressed with the performance. May I ask where you got the 2.150 from and how much gravy it ran you?

I got mine at a shop in Long Beach for $550.00. It's an authorized Alpine dealer, if you need their name, pm me.

I picked up the PDX 2.150 at Crutchfield, $399 less $30 corporate discount. I think Sonicelectronix had it cheaper, however when all costs were added up it was only about $20. I figure it's worth it for that difference to purchase from an authorised dealer.
