Default Lucid rear speakers

I installed Lucid's rear speakers this week end. I have no experience with installing HU or speakers. I got 5.25 Kenwood. The install was as easy as I could have hoped. The HU came out with no problem. I had trouble with the carpet clips. I tried to find the clip remover, but could not. The removal of the rear panels not a problem, I suggest the use of a socket and not the screwdriver. The best part is that the sound is 100% better. It was well worth the money. If I can do the project, anyone can.

Here's how to make a carpet clip remover. Go to your kitchen utensil drawer. Get a fork. Shorten the tines by cutting or grinding them. Spread the inside tines apart so that the fork looks more like a "Y" than Bart Simpson's hairdo (''''). Make sure that you smooth/polish your work so that you don't leave scratches on your upholstery or plastic trim. You can slip the modified fork under the clip and use the slight curve of the fork to lever the clip out. Works on many clips, but especially well on carpet.

Or you can buy one for $3.95 like I did and save your fork

Jim, thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it.

Would you said its worth it to ADD the clip remover to rear packages? Aprox cost ~ 5-10 addl. and OR add color matched clips 1 or 2 to it. This of course would be an option.

sigh. i should have bought the clip remover. those blasted little clips/plugs are a pain to get out... and even using a adapted clip remover i'm going to have to replace a few... the buggers are a bit expensive too at around $2 a pop.

(of course, i wasn't adding rear speakers, but was running wire along the console... still, i'm fairly sure it was the same clips.)

I bought a "trim puller" for about $7 from Salvo auto parts, so you might try using that name or checking around some more.

lucid- I think you should offer it as a separate item, since some people already have an item in their toolkit that they use (or kitchen drawer ). good review though!

Lucid.
I do not think you need to add clips. If they are broken, just go to the Honda dealer. They are $2.09. As to the tool, you may want that to be a option. I would have liked a photo of the tool and see the best way to place it. It hard to write instructions for someone, like me, who does not know what they are doing. Again, I think you did a great job with the product and instruction. If I can install the speakers, anyone can. More important, the speakers are a huge improvement in the sound system. I agree with all those who have said that is is the best mod. Thanks.
