My quick fix to stop some trunk rattle...
I installed a sub last week and have been trying to nail down the rattling I'm now getting. Most of it came from the trunk / soft top tray area. Here are a couple things I did that helped:
1) Trunk latch - First off, I see no need to have an inside trunk release (could a person even fit in there???). This was the biggest source of rattle noise for me. I took a short piece of 1/4" rubber hose ($.20 / foot at Home Depot), slit the side of it and slid it into the gap between the base portion of the latch and the bottom of the trigger. Then I took some electrical tape to the are just above the trigger. Rattle noise completely gone.
2) Rear tray - Lots of noise from here. the back vertical piece of the tray seemed to be the noise source, so I took it out, applied some automotive carpet padding (juke??) that I picked up from an apolstry shop (3' x 4' for $10). I used 3M spray adhesive to attach it. Rattle 95% gone. I've still got a little rattle noise coming from just behind the driver seat.
3) Driver's sun visor area - I'm still trying to decide what to do here. It's an intermittent rattle that goes away if I partially let down the visor.

The switch moves whenever you hit the key fob tunk release, so be sure that it will still move after applying your de-rattling additions. You can test it with the trunk lid open. Just look inside and hit the key fob and the latch should move. If hitting the key fob doesn't work AND you've closed the trunk already
you can still open it using the ignition key.
