Default new door speakers for '01

I'm planning to upgrade to an alpine 9885 with the modifry DCI so while i'm at it, I want to upgrade my door speakers.

I have a gift card from Best Buy, so I want to get them from there. I don't care how much they cost as long as they're from BB. But I also want it to be easy, I'm looking for something that drops right in because I'm not very handy with this type of stuff.

Any suggestions?

Also, I don't need an amp, do I?

alpine type R speakers. graet low base sound! they are 6 1/2s. and for these to sound good you must install an amp

Ok, sounds good.

Next question is... what type of amp should I get to go with the 9885 and the Type R speakers?

Lol i just did the same thing u did 3 days ago i bought the same cd player and got the $40 gift card (there having a deal on the 9885 for $299 and u get a $40 gift card with it.
For speakers i bought the pioneer 5 1/4 "they were 54.99 from there" and i put them in the rear panels in back of the seat and honestly with the stock front speakers and those in the back it makes a huge difference TO ME.

I hope this helps out

if you're looking for "drop in" and "easy," installing an amp isn't. Those
Alpines don't look very efficient, so they likely NEED an amp. Don't
know if BB carries them, but Crutchfield is having a sale on Polk db650's

they're pretty efficient so you may be able to get away without an amp, and
I believe people have said they're an easy install, though I don't know this
first hand.

The polk's are an easy install and sound great. I just did mine about 3 weeks ago. You don't even have to cut the mouting basket if you don't mind the tight squeeze.

Let me chime in and say that I am very pleased with my Polk Audio 6501's.... easy instal.... sound good without an amp (However, my Alpine PDX 4.150 really kicks them into gear)

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to bother with rear speakers, but I only really want to do this once, so maybe I should just go all out and get 4 new speakers.

Do most people put 5 1/4" for the rear?
