New Install Nightmares
Modifry just came out with a wired Alpine one.....just making sure you got that one, as you stated you wanted a wired one.
Ever sort out that issue with the amp clipping? If not, it can be REALLY bad for the amp if you just let it clip like that all day (if there is no internal protect mode, it can fry itself).

I did buy the wired Alpine DCI. It's a two week turn around time for them as "a critical component was discontinued" and Modifry is looking for another component to replace it.
I am having a problem now with the tweeters in my headrest which I got from the dealer. It seems if I turn the Power-IC function on I get use of them and I don't get signal through my RCAs thus no subwoofer and no components making kickass noise. If I turn it off vice versa. I want to have both on at the same time. Does anyone know about the Alpine head units and if I can make use of the internal amp and have signal sent across the RCAs?
Called Alpine to see what they had to say about the rear speakers going through the internal amp and for post I made a mistake on and wanted to get some clarity. My apologies again. The CDA-9813 is not compatible with the KCA-420i iPod interface adapter but the CDA-9831 is.
But anywho... it seems that if the Power-IC (turns internal amplifier on/off) is on I lose use of my front speakers as they are run through an external amp and my rears are run on the internal so I had use of them. Alpine was like noway that doesn't happen, no change in settings makes you completely lose preamp outputs. They said to take it back to Bestbuy let them take a look at it. I gave it some more thought and initiative and went to see if one of my random theories was correct. It appeared to do as I always thought. Soon as I turned Power-IC on I lost my components.... so I thought... I adjusted the fade and when everything was supposed to be towards the front I had nothing, zero, zilch nada. I put the fade back to the middle. I put my ear right on top of the front tweeters to see if I was receiving anything. Low and behold I was getting a very faint signal to these speakers. I mean I was plugging my left ear and trying to listen with my right and I still could barely hear it. Turns out that if the internal amp is on the signal sent across the RCAs is substantially less than if it were off. I grab a screwdriver and adjust the gains on the external 4-channel amp that I have hooked up to the components in the doors. AMAZING. My magic caused the front speakers to work again. I try the fade agian. I still have nothing. I go back to the owner's manual for the head unit and I realize that I wired the front speakers to the rear RCA jacks. I'm dummy. I mean I thought common sense dictated that the fronts should be on top rears in the middle and the sub RCAs on the bottom. Nope! Rears on top fronts in the middle. It seems everyday is turning into a bigger learning experience.
Please feel free to read my post and use my misfortunes, accidents, and ignorance as tools to avoid your own or to remedy the ones you may have.
