New stereo - 2x component 1 sub 4ch, or 2x component 2x roll hoop speakers 1 sub and 5ch?
Hey All,
I’ve decided that it’s time to finish my system. Currently I have a Sony deck, aftermarket components (not sure what kind) and a 2ch amp. It came with the car so I haven’t heard what a stock system sounds like, although I’m sure it’s a big improvement.
That said, even with taking the time to set it up to my liking, it’s lacking. If I turn it up it hurts the ears and doesn’t sound good, some low end bass would really help. I’d love a footwell sub, but 2tall doesn’t ship to Canada so I’ll be going either with a tool well or corner mount sub box. I’ve found a good schematic of the full toolwell area and am also thinking about building a box that uses the whole area, and has a slot so the amp can mount to it.
Anyway, I need to buy some gear. This brings me to the title question. Will it make that big of a difference adding a “rear” set of speakers, say in the roll hoops or seat top? The downside is having to house a larger 5ch amp (unless I can just run the rears of my deck). I think ideally from a cost perspective, a 4ch with 2 running to a sub would be ideal, and an easier install.
Thoughts? Thanks
edit: So to go the 5ch route, it'll probably cost another $300+. Found roll hoop brackets on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271959772235...witem=&vxp=mtr
With the crappy CAD dollar, brackets, extra set of speakers and a 5ch over a 4ch, not sure it's worth it.
