Default oem keyless entry/alarm doesnt work

today my keyless entry/alarm wouldnt work for anything. i came inside right away and searched for anyone else having this problem. i figured someone has to know how to fix it. rather than have some jack@ss at the dealership tell me the same thing after it took them a week to figure out. anyway, i read all this stuff about how you have to press the valet switch, take the batter cable off, pull the fuse out, or reprogram the keychain remote. well, the majority of the people said to pull the fuse out and wait a while. so i did, and it didnt work. so i said screw it and went to meet some friends at the bar. when i got there i said what the hell, i'll try the remote. sure enough it worked. all i really want to know is whats up with this thing. i read that so many people have these problems and i think that it bullsh!t to have problems like this with a brand new car. but that is my opinion.

make sure you have the right remote. if you have the OEM alarm, it came w/ different remotes from the keyless entry. i don't have the OEM alarm myself, so i can't give you much more info... but i know i've read more than a couple threads where that turned out to be the solution to a similar problem...

best of luck. hopefully, someone with more knowledge will chime in soon...

Could be a bad connection somewhere......something is making intermittent electrical contact, so it only works sometimes. Driving the car apparently jostles it around enough to sometimes work.

The S2000 siren wiring harness (if it was used and the alarm isn't just spliced in) has several different connectors where it plugs into the car's existing wiring. One (actually 3 I think) at the alarm brain (under the driver's seat), one at the keyless entry module (in the dash behind left side stereo controls), one at the light controller (inside the steering the column, you can get to it from underneath the dash), and two more behind the kick panel in the driver's footwell. Check all of these to make sure they're well in place.

Another possibility....

The range is sometimes short on the OEM alarm, and if the transmitter batteries are weak, it would be even worse. The LED on the remote isn't a good indicator of battery strength, they need very little power to light up.

Get in the car, close the door, and hold the remote under the front of the seat. Then see if you can get it to work reliably. If so, get a new battery.
