AusS2000 - I asked this very question a little while ago - here is the thread:
http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=26877
I used the stiff cardboard template route which worked fine for me.
Elistan - I dont know about the BostonAcoustics speakers you have, but it is really the magnet size (diameter) which is the critical factor. The 4" mid-range Polk speaker I fittted has a magnet diam. of 3 1/8" - I really dont think you could go much bigger than this, my install was very tight. (Depth is not an issue - there was plenty of space in the 'hole' - I have my x-overs mounted back there).

Keith, Ian,
Thanks for the prompt response.
Despite the fe Lucid bashing messages on this forum, it looks like I'm going to have to give serious consideration to contactibg Lucid and giving him an order! I just have to overcome my reluctance to mess about with getting the head unit out, carpets up etc.

Pete - have no fear about messing with carpet or head unit - Lucid supplies very clear instructions with pictures so you just cant go wrong. There is NO cutting and NO modifications required to your car.
If you wished you could put things back exactly how they were with no evidence of having done the work.
It took me 45 minutes from start to finish and I was working in the dark with a head torch!

Kudos to you Jim. Your speaker concept was well conceived, executed, and delivered. You are a real gentleman and like Rick offer the finest modifications at the fairest prices this web site provides.
Having heard the results of Lucids work first hand, thanks Mike btw for letting me have a listen.
I was a bit skeptical at first thinking the lack of space between the back of the seat and the panel would really muffle or deaden the sound, in short it doesn't. Even with the stock deck it sounds fantasic, at speed, in VTEC. You can still hear good clear sound.
Awsome modification to a lackluster stock system, even better with a new deck and amp.
As for the price, I find it funny that anyone complains about it, everyone has to put the effort into doing these mods for people who either can't or don't have the time to do it. In fact I don't think the price is unreasonable. Pinky was the first one to do the PAC mod and he charges a high price for it..time went into it and if he wants to charge what he charges then he feels its worth that much for the time put into R&D etc. When I upgrade my deck I'd certainly consider the Pinky mod. Makes sense to me.
I don't understand complaining about prices and then complaining about people wanting a deal...but hey thats just me I guess
In short if you want a great sounding upgrade then go with the lucid panel. It supports the community and is well worth the money.

First, I want to thank Lucid for ALL of his help, his honesty, and putting up with all my questions. This alone is worth the extra $ for the rear speakers. Which, by the way, will make a difference in sound, even through seats (Bertone experience, still waiting for UPS to deliver...3 day is more like 7 it seems.)
Plus, do I really want to try cutting and mounting my speakers? How many panels will I mess up before I get a "pro" looking install? I've done plenty (over 20) car stereo installs, so I could definitely do this...but it's worth $60 extra to me to save 4 or so hours of my time, not to mention getting it done right the first time (who knows how much that saves).
Just because you can't appreciate the value someone provides, or disagree with other people's preference in sound staging, doesn't justify personal attacks. You can say the same thing in a much better way (ie, "by the way, you can cut your own panels you know", etc.)
Another way to look at it: Lucid's panels with speakers: under $200. Quotes from local shops: "can't be done", "can't be done", "$1000", "$500". Maybe Lucid needs to raise his prices to make people happy. NOT
