Open Air Subwoofer
If you don't want to lose your trunkwell, you could do what I (and some others) have done with their trunks. It's also ported to the cabin--I cut a sizeable hole in the rear panel of the trunk and also the convertible top tray, and covered them both with mesh fabric. Looks pretty good IMO.

Also, did you run some tubing from the woofer enclosure to your hole in the top try to vent the woofer?

No tubing necessary. The box is sealed. Honestly the holes were cut to eliminate alot of vibration. Now I have none...
