Default Poor radio reception

The radio reception in my s2k is not very good. My other car easily pulls in stations that the s2k will not. I installed a pioneer head unit shortly after I bought the car and do not recall very well how the reception was before that. One of the reasons I went with the Pioneer is that they are known for good tuner reception. I do still get several stations just fine so I'm sure the antenna is hooked up. Any ideas?

The S2k has a powered antenna... maybe you hooked up the remote turn on wire to the antenna instead of the antenna wire.

Both wires are blue.

make sure the power antenna lead is hooked up - the stock stubby
antenna has an amplifier which is driven off the wire normally used for
retractable antennas, but some installers don't bother hooking it up
because they assume it's not necessary.

EDIT:
looks like John and I were composing answers at the same moment!
