Default possible amp rack?

hey. i had an idea on an amp rack and i was wondering if it would work...im goin to be running 2 JL amps (monoblock and 4 channel) and i wanted to mount it facing downwards on a piece of wood that would take the place of the plastic tray that holds up the convt. top when its down, that way the amp cant be seen and wont touch the top wen its down. it would also save alot of space in the trunk. any input/advice would be great. thanks
-i hope u guys understand what im tryin to explain

i think the problem could be when you put the top down and over heat. best way to do what you are talking about is to remove the softtop and get a hardtop then you could easy.
like what we did more on next page

really? it would over heat even if the top isnt touchin the amp?
cuz i was thinkin to mount the amp facing down so that the back of the amp would be touchin one side of the wood, and then the other side of the wood is what the top would be touchin wen its down...thanks

I do not think JL's were intended to be mounted face down. I remember reading that when I was shopping for my 450/4.

The spare is way over rated. Get a can of fix a flat or a AAA gold membership and scrap the tire. Look at it this way, if you have a sub in the trunk, where will you put the flat tire for the ride home after you change it?

there's also not a lot of clearance on the left side above the fuel tank
