Default Question about highs.

I recently bought a new CD player and 10" Kicker Solobaric L7 sub to replace my Fosgate woofer. I've had the stock deck until now and loved the sound. I have Rockford-Fosgate components powered by an Eclipse amp. I got the new deck because my stock deck only played burned CD's when it wanted to. When I got it installed, I turned it up to test out the sub, but if it weren't for the for the vibrations, I wouldn't have been able to tell you if the sub was going. All I heard was cymbals and really high notes. It was unbearable how much of the highs I was getting and how little mids and bass I was getting. So I fiddled with the deck and turned the treble all the way down and bass up. It didn't help much, so I changed the EQ frequencies, and did the same. It still is terrible. I can't hear any singing. I had to point the tweeters away from me. Can anyone help me with this? I want to hear all of the music, not just the highs.

Where did you install your tweeters? Up in the door pannel like the 02's?

To start with, look at the crossover, there should be a setting on it to attenuate the tweeter to -2 or -4 db or something like then. Make sure it's at -4.

The tweeters were installed in the door panels like the 02-03 model. It's set at -4db. I didn't install the deck, so I don't know what the crossovers points are set at. Would either a high or low pass filter help any. It's a cheapo deck that I got just so I could listen to CD-Rs on my drive to California. It's going to be there for three-four weeks. When I get it back I'll probably get a new deck and see if that helps any, and I'll check all the connections.

I just did an install last weekend in my S2K.... after much discourse discovered i had the inputs out of the 2 channels into the amp out of phase, man did that sound goofy. It actually sounded just like you describe...to do an easy tes... set you balance on the head unit all the way to the left or right, if gives you back all of your missing sound then they are being cancelled out because the channels are out of phase
