Question about location for amp
I'm gonna be having a system put in my car at the end of this week. I've decided that I'm going to put two 10 in. solobaric L7's in the tool well, but I have no idea where to put the kicker 1200 amp. I need to be able to keep the spare tire in place, and remove it if necesary. The amp does not seem like it would fit on the sides, so the only possibilities that I can come up with are to have it up against the front wall of the trunk twords the driver's side, or to cut the sub box short a couple inches from the back wall of the trunk, and have the amp in the tool well against the back wall. I do not really want to put it in the tool well, because this will take away from the size of the already small sub box. Any suggestions would be very helpful, and thank you in advance.
Well, you are going to be pretty limited as you noted. Vertically against the gas tank is really the best option. If you REALLY wanted to get creative the only other thing I could come up with would be mounting to the underside of the trunklid. I don't reccomend this for a lot of reasons, but it IS an option.
Are you sure you need a spare tire? Keep in mind that the well is designed to carry your flat tire on the wheel, if you fill it up with a sub (or two) then you will not be able to carry your tire with you in case of a flat (unless you want to but a dirty tire in your passenger seat, unless of course there is a passenger there!)
I would suggest removing the spare, and mounting behind there. Or vertically next to the spare and in front of the gas tank.

Dump the spare, and mount your sub in this location. You'll get rid of the weight of the useless spare (that can only be used to replace your front tire), and will gain a clean install with easy accessibility. Then invest in a AAA Emergency Road Service card, and let them deal with the flat tire hassel should it occur! Just my .02 cents!
