Default A question for Valentine One and Other Rader Detector Owners

Where do you have the detectors mounted? Does it have any negative impacts on visibility? Can you post any pics? Also, how difficult is it to hard wire a rader detector?

TIA

I have my V1 mounted on the passenger side visor with a remote unit just under the a/c controls where I can see it better. The only downfall to this location is that the passenger loses use of the visor.

Hardwiring the unit is very easy; takes maybe an hour. There are directions in one of the sticky threads in under the hood.

My V1 is mounted to a bracket above the secret compartment. It goes off right next to my right ear, which is great. Still experimenting with the remote display to find the optimum position.

Like ButtonBoy, I mounted my V1 on top of the secret compartment between the seats. I don't have any photos at this time, but if you do a search under "reedz radar detector mount", you should find the thread that shows how to make the mount out of $10 worth of parts from Radio shack. This is an excellent location, as it does not affect your vision, and places the audio alarm close to your ears so that you can hear it even with the top down and the stereo volume up!

As for the remote display, I dremeled the back at an angle to match the angle of the instrument cluster, and mounted it with velcro just below the fuel gauge, and just far enough to the left so that I can still access the tripometer. This location has a good line of sight to the driver. However, you will not be able to access the Kmh button or see the seatbelt warning light without pulling the remote unit off of the velcro (not a problem to me, as I don't care about Kmh, and I always use my seatbelt)

The whole install including the mount and hardwiring took approximately 1.5 hours, and was not difficult at all.

If you want to see pics of my install, let me know, and I will take some photos tonight and post!

I just have mine hardwired on the driver's side visor and it seems to work fine. I don't have an issue with looking up to see the display and like the fact that it's not in the middle of the windshield. Used to have it mounted on the windshield with the suction cups. The only downside is when you need to use the visor - but I hardly ever use it anyway.

I have mine hardwired and mounted just above the center of the dash. Have the remote behind the steering wheel, right of center (velcro) where it does not hide warning lights but is easy to see.
